You don't need to go anywhere - we my have mentioned the on-the-doorstep walking and birdwatching already!  However, if you want a change of scene there are any number of places to visit within a short drive.  In increasing distance: Stourhead Gardens (which you can walk to, at a push), Longleat House and Safari Park, the Hauser and Wirth gallery, The Newt, and the towns of Bruton, Frome, Bath and Wells along with countless beautiful villages and attendant watering holes
